About Fred Balvert | Science Commmunicator, Erasmus MC

Fred Balvert is science communicator at Erasmus MC University Medical Center Rotterdam. He is director of Science Gallery Rotterdam by which Erasmus MC participates in the network of Science Gallery International, and Head of the Congress Agency of Erasmus MC. From 2003 to 2010 he was press officer and spokesman of Erasmus MC. In these positions he gained experience in crisis communication and communication about societal issues, such as animal testing and knowledge transfer. He teaches science communication at Rhein-Waal University of Applied Sciences in Kleve, Germany, and at the International School of Science Journalism in Erice, Italy. He is a member of the local organizing committee of the conference Public Communication of Science & Technology (PCST) that will take place in 2023 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
