About Jeroen Geurts | Brain researcher and Prof. of Translational Neuroscience, VU University Medical Center

Jeroen Geurts is brain researcher and professor of Translational Neuroscience at the VU University Medical Center. He is chair of the Department of Anatomy and Neurosciences and head section Clinical Neuroscience. His research focuses on neurodegenerative disorders and cognitive disorders, and is specialized in Multiple Sclerosis. Since January 2017 Geurts is appointed as President of ZonMw (Organization for health research & healthcare innovation ) and Member of the Board of NWO (Dutch Organization for Scientific Research). Jeroen is a member on the board of Amsterdam Neuroscience and VUmc MS Center. Jeroen is adjunct professor at the University of Calgary since 2010. Geurts is founder and director of Brein in Beeld, a foundation that promotes the scientific debate in society and creates a platform for interdisciplinary discussion between scientists. He has a special interest in philosophy of neuroscience. Jeroen was a member and chair of the Young Acadamy (2012-2017).
