Elena Tufan | Director, Head of Site Supply Chain, Kite

Elena Tufan is passionate about bringing innovative therapies to patients around the world. With 13+ years of experience in Supply Chain Management in multiple industries, from consumer electronics & goods to medical devices and pharmaceuticals. The last five years of which being focused on launching Kite’s first two cell therapies in over 22 countries across Europe and the Middle East. Currently, she is Director of Site Supply Chain at Kite’s European cell therapy manufacturing facility in the Netherlands. Elena leads an exceptionally talented multinational team of more than 50 people focused on delivering Kite’s therapies faster, and more efficiently through a global network of manufacturing facilities, to thousands of patients in more than 24 countries worldwide.

Elena is originally from Romania and lives in the Netherlands for 10 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering (BEng), a master’s degree in supply chain management (MSc.) from the Politehnica University of Bucharest, and a Professional Doctorate in Industrial Engineering (PDEng.) from the Eindhoven University of Technology.

Kite, a Gilead Science company, is a global leader in cell therapy. Founded in 2009, and headquartered in US, the company has three manufacturing facilities globally. Their European production site is located in Hoofddorp, near Schiphol airport.
