About Carl Moons | Director, Health Innovations Netherlands
Carl Moons is professor of clinical epidemiology and director of research at the Julius Center, and affiliated at VanderBilt University (US). His experience covers the full range of design, conduct, data analysis, reporting, and dissemination of medical research and its findings. This varies from primary research on the evaluation of medical devices and tests for diagnosis, prognosis, screening and monitoring, through to etiological studies and randomized therapeutic trials, along with meta-epidemiological studies using aggregate and individual participant data.
Carl’s main focus concerns improving methods and approaches for evaluating and implementing medical devices, (bio)markers, and prediction models. He is involved in more than 500 peer reviewed publications, books, and book chapters, and is also principal investigator in numerous international clinical studies and networks funded by various international organizations (EU, NHS, NIH). Carl is chair of the Dutch Reporting and Expert center for Unintended effects of Implants. He also chaired the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) committee ‘Evaluation of new technology in healthcare’.
