The healthcare system is facing major challenges caused by an aging population, a decreasing workforce, increasingly expensive therapies and the risks of newly emerging diseases posed by climate change. At the same time society expects healthcare to be accessible, affordable, sustainable and meeting citizens’ needs. As one of the largest university medical center in The Netherlands, Erasmus MC is leading the way in innovation for health and care. In collaboration with regional, national and international partners it fosters a technical innovative ecosystem that is able to address societal needs and valorize the results of biomedical research and in-house innovations. It also develops digital and data platforms and AI to support patientcare and research and education within the university medical center, as well as in its region and on a national level. This makes Erasmus MC an attractive living lab for its employees and partners.
