Dorien Zwart | Professor of General Practice/Family Medicine, UMC Utrecht
Dorien Zwart is full professor in General Practice/Family Medicine and head of Department of General Practice & Nursing Science in the Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care at University Medical Center Utrecht. Besides she is practicing as a GP/Family Physician in the Primary Healthcare Center De Bilt for 1 day a week. Zwart's research primarily focuses on quality and patient safety of healthcare innovation, targeting the top 3 patient safety challenges in primary care (diagnostic safety, transitional safety and medication safety) in the context of three strategic research programs of the UMC Utrecht (Cardiovascular Health, Infection and Immunity and Cancer). Therapy@Home is an example of the complex intervention studies she supervises. In this study, acutely ill patients with respiratory tract infection are managed at home instead of in hospital, making use of remote monitoring technology embedded in a collaborative care network.
