Marcelien is a PhD candidate at Utrecht University's Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences with a Bachelor’s degree in political science and a Master’s in Health Economics, Policy and Law from Erasmus University. Her research focuses on enhancing access to innovative therapies by addressing uncertainties and reimbursement challenges through managed entry agreements (MEA). She developed an innovative approach to identify upcoming therapies suitable for outcome-based reimbursement models, facilitating early preparation of MEAs. Additionally, her work includes the development of a calculation tool and frameworks to guide the construction and comparison of novel payment and reimbursement models, offering practical guidance to involved stakeholders on when traditional agreements suffice and where more innovative agreements can be beneficial.
