Miriam Koopman | Prof. Dr. Internist-Oncolog, UMC Utrecht

Prof. Dr. Miriam Koopman (1975) received her MD (cum laude) at the Radboud University Medical Center, Nijmegen, NL, and was trained as a medical oncologist at the University Medical Center Utrecht, NL. Since 2010, she has a tenured staff position at the department of Medical Oncology at the University Medical Center Utrecht, NL. In 2017 she was appointed as Professor of Medical Oncology, with a focus on colorectal cancer (CRC). As of April 2023, she is Head of the department of Medical Oncology in the UMC Utrecht. Her main focus of clinical/translational research concerns the improvement of the prognosis of CRC patients by optimizing treatment and developing prognostic/predictive (bio)markers, with the main objective of personalized care for CRC patients. She is the founder and current chair of the Dutch Prospective CRC cohort study (PLCRC), to which currently the majority of Dutch hospitals participate and which contains data from >14,000 patients. Since 2019 she is (vice) chair of the Dutch Colorectal Cancer Group (DCCG). Miriam Koopman is ESMO faculty member for the Gastro-Intestinal Tumours –colorectal since 2017 and is chair of the ESMO working group on Real World Data. Within Oncode-PACT, she is coordinator of the patient cohorts consortium.
