Stefan Willems MD, PhD, MBA, was trained in medicine (2003 cum laude Catholic University Leuven), obtained his board certification in pathology (2010, Leiden University) and obtained his PhD in molecular pathology (2011, LUMC). After postdoc positions at Harvard Medical School (Gygilab) and NKI-AvL (Bernardslab) he has been working in the UMCUtrecht as a pathologist with special interest in molecular pathology and diagnostics. He is vice-chair of PALGA and vice-chair of the scientific council of the Dutch Cancer Society. In March 2020 he became professor of pathology and chair of the department of pathology and medical biology in the UMC Groningen.
