Julius Heemelaar | Cardiologist in Training, LUMC

Julius Heemelaar, MD, is a cardiologist in training at Leiden University Medical Center, specializing in heart disease in hemato-oncology patients. He completed PhD research fellowships at LUMC and at Mass General Hospital-Harvard Medical School (Boston, USA). His research interests include leveraging big data analytics and artificial intelligence, particularly in natural language processing, to detect complex toxicities of cancer treatments from electronic health records. Currently, he is a postdoc focused on the application of large language models in healthcare and is a co-founder of the LUMC-NLP-LAB.
