Koos Burggraaf is the Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for Human Drug Research, located in the Leiden BioScience Park. He is also Professor of Translational Drug Development at the Leiden Academic Centre for Drug Research and Leiden University Medical Center.

Koos graduated in Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences (MSc) and Medicine (MSc) from Leiden University with a specialization in clinical pharmacology. He subsequently qualified cum laude as an MD at Leiden University, where he also obtained his PhD. Since 1990 he has held several positions at CHDR, and since 1997 he has completed clinical attachments at several hospitals, mainly in internal medicine. His main scientific interest is in early drug development
