Martijn Wapenaar | Innovation Large Molecule Strategy & Deployment Manager, Johnson & Johnson
Martijn Wapenaar currently works at Johnson & Johnson Global MSAT organization from Leiden as Innovation Large Molecule Strategy & Deployment Manager. In this role, Martijn works on deploying advanced technologies to improve commercial large molecule manufacturing.
After finishing his MSc Degree in Biotechnology and Professional Doctorate in BioProduct Design Martijn Wapenaar joined Janssen Biologics in Leiden, where he applied his knowledge to lead the upstream development of complex anti-body production processes for clinical supply, analyze data using MVDA tools like SIMCA and execute development studies in multi-departmental international projects.
Martijn has a passion for learning and personal development which he got to practice at Janssen Biologics by joining their TEDxJNJ community. For 14 fulltime months, Martijn worked in the Johnson & Johnson department of Talent & Development as Global Curator where his job was to empower the people of Johnson & Johnson to develop themselves and their ideas. As part of this program, Martijn started coaching speakers using the J&J Captivating Communications method. He enjoyed transforming ideas into stories so much, that he founded his company Goldy Coaching to be able to also coach speakers outside of the Johnson & Johnson enterprise.
Returning from his leadership rotational assignment, Martijn got back into the science, and he joined J&J’s MSAT (former Global Technical Operations) as a Technical Launch Integrator for vaccines. In this role Martijn managed tasks and teams required to bring new vaccine product from R&D towards the commercial Supply Chain. A great fit with his process knowledge and networking skills.
Martijn is a social and calm person who likes to challenge the status quo. He is curious, and he’s always looking for how to use data and science to make processes more lean.
