The pharmacist is an important player in the lifestyle-care chain; from screening to demedicalization.

My name is Rogier Larik and I am a community pharmacist. In addition to my knowledge about medation, I have been studying all about prevention and lifestyle for the past 3 years when I found out that reversing of chronic diseases is really possible.

To share this knowledge, I have set up 'the training to become a lifestyle pharmacist' from my company Care For Cure (www.careforcure.nl), which started in 2021. This 6 day training will inspire pharmacists to shape the pharmacy of the near future also in the field of health, because prevention remains better than cure.

Last year I published in the ‘Pharmaceutisch Weekblad’ my vision 'The pharmacy will become the Health House in every neighborhood'. In it I describe that the pharmacy is an important link and facility in your neighborhood where the pharmacist, as the most accessible healthcare provider, will proactively make the difference in the field of medication and health.

And I'm not alone with this passion. A network of more than 180 lifestyle pharmacists has now emerged who want to contribute on the transition from disease to health. And we cannot and do not want to do this alone. That is why it is great that I can tell at the Leiden Drug Development Conference how the pharmacist of the future will work regionally and certainly multidisciplinary for the health of every Dutch person.
