Siri van der Meijden is a Technical Physician and is researching the "clinical applicability of AI in perioperative and critical care" from both an academic (LUMC) and commercial (Healthplus.ai) perspective. She is working on the development, validation and implementation of the AI-based clinical decision support tool PERISCOPE. PERISCOPE predicts the risk of postoperative infections within 7 and 30 days of surgery and is fully integrated into the electronic health record. The aim is to reduce the severity and impact of postoperative infections which are currently one of the most impactful complications in surgery.
