The last day of the BioBusiness Summer School offers participants an exciting Business Case, where you will be introduced to the challenge and fun of making important strategic decisions. You will get to apply the key business concepts learned throughout the week to a case study featuring a real-world business scenario.
This workshop encourages participants to explore new ways of thinking. You will build confidence and critical thinking skills while learning to clearly express your ideas and persuade others, helping you prepare for success in your future career.
In the 2025 edition of the BioBusiness Summer School, participants delved into the case “AM Pharma: Creating Value”, which follows the company’s journey from its founding in 2001 to its strategic exit in 2015 through a major deal with Pfizer. This three-part case explores how a biotech startup builds value over time, navigates clinical risk, and negotiates its way to a successful outcome.
We were honored to welcome Juliane Bernholz, Chief Executive Officer at AM Pharma, and Liesbeth Hof, Senior Director of Project Management at AM Pharma, who joined us to unpack the case. They shared invaluable insights into the company’s strategy, deal structure, and the thinking behind key decisions. They also challenged participants to step into the shoes of both the biotech team and the pharma partner during the negotiation process.
This hands-on experience gave attendees a deeper understanding of the biotech business landscape and sharpened their skills in evaluating real-world deals. It provided them with knowledge that will prove invaluable in their future careers.
