In this talk, Nazma Ilahibaks will share practical insights on building a career in life sciences in 2026. Drawing from her own path in academic research, biotech, and entrepreneurship, she will discuss how students can recognize opportunities, find their first role, develop useful skills, and position themselves in a changing job market. The presentation will focus on practical career lessons: how to approach companies, how to make yourself visible, what employers look for, and why curiosity, reliability, communication, and hands-on experience matter. The goal is to help students entering the job market to think more clearly about their next step after their studies.

Nazma Ilahibaks | CEO & Co-founder | JAMA Tx
Nazma Ilahibaks, PhD, is CEO and co-founder of JAMA Therapeutics, a preclinical stage cardiac gene therapy spin-off from University Medical Center Utrecht. She has over nine years of experience in non-viral drug delivery for cardiovascular applications and is co-inventor of the deVINCI delivery platform. Her career combines academic research, translational science, business development, and venture building. Before founding JAMA Tx, she supported international public-private partnerships with pharma and medtech and helped advance academic venture creation within the Dutch regenerative medicine ecosystem. She holds a PhD in Regenerative Medicine and an MSc in Drug Innovation from Utrecht University.
