Dr. Aldo Grefhorst is member of staff of the Department of Experimental Vascular Medicine of the Amsterdam UMC. Ever since the start of his scientific career, all his research activities have been focused on whole-body effects of changes in lipid metabolism. His primary research is currently centered on basic as well as translational studies on the role of the gut microbiome in regulating hepatic lipid metabolism. Other research hobbies are adipose tissue lipid metabolism, and causes and novel treatments of familial hypercholesterolemia.
