Martine Smit
Professor of Target and Systems Biochemistry, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam
Prof. Martine Smit is heading the Receptor Biochemistry and Signaling group in the department of Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Research focuses on key pharmacological properties of human and viral G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) (e.g. constitutive activity, endosomal signaling, dimerisation, EV biology) to elucidate the (oncogenic) signaling networks activated by human and viral chemokine receptors. Nanobodies, llama-derived single domain antibody fragments, are used to target, unravel and modulate human and viral chemokine receptor function.
