Bridging the Gap in Cardiovascular Diseases

Powered by MSD

13:45 - 14:45

Cardiovascular diseases remain a leading cause of mortality in the broader Amsterdam region, with a disproportionate impact on vulnerable populations. This increases the pressure on the healthcare sector and hospitals, the economy through a loss of productivity, and, most poignantly: a major impact on the physical and mental health of patients suffering from these diseases.

The “MRA with Heart” coalition aims to improve cardiovascular health and reduce regional health disparities in the broader Amsterdam region. Led by the Amsterdam Economic Board, this includes partners from the triple helix – government, academia, and industry, alongside civil society and healthcare providers. Science, practice and policy come together to leverage real-world data, behavioral insights, co-created research and implementation trajectories.

In an open dialogue with multiple Coalition-partners, we will bridge the gap between prevention, early detection and treatment. The panel will showcase both joint and individual projects, from targeted interventions in high‑risk communities to population-level data-based prevention initiatives. Together, we invite the audience to reflect on how similar coalition models can be replicated in other regions and scaled nationally, to sustainably lower the burden of cardiovascular disease.
