As a member of the Johnson & Johnson legal department, I lead the regional patent organizations supporting Latin America, Asia-Pacific, and Europe, Middle-East/Africa working with our MedTech and Innovative Medicine team members across the globe. The main objectives for our organization are helping our business partners to understand their local patent portfolios and how to effectively and fairly use that portfolio to enable further innovation and provide safe and effective healthcare solutions to patients. In addition, we use our deep understanding of local markets and their patent laws to develop our future global patent strategies. I am energized every day by working at the crossroads of different cultures, science and law and having the opportunity to learn new things, to get to know other people and understand what drives them. Prior to my current role I have worked in different IP roles in multinational companies including Nutreco and Philips. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Dutch Law, a Master’s degree in Corporate Law with a focus on Intellectual Property and a Masters and PhD degree in Biopharmaceutical Science.
