Cervical and Uterine Pain Relief for Women Worldwide
Standard 10 ml syringes are too short to reach the cervix and uterus, preventing administration of local anaesthetic and forcing women to endure severe pain during gynaecological procedures. These include completion like Manual vacuum aspiration (MVA), Loop electrosurgical excision procedure, Cervical polyp removal, Endometrial ablation/hysteroscopy, Endometrial biopsy, Cervical biopsy, IUD insertion and removal, IVF - Transvaginal oocyte retrieval. Chloe Syringe Extension Device (Chloe® SED) is a €1 device that extend all 10ml syringes to reach the cervix to provide pain-relief during cervical or uterine manipulation. The unacceptable truth about the societal impact of short syringes not reaching the cervix or uterus means more than 500 million women globally, and more than 100 million women in Africa, where the issue is most prevalent, are at risk of going through a gynaecological procedure without pain-relief medication. This is is inhumane leaving women traumatized. My team, Gwer Stephen (Medical Doctor), Aparna Ramanatha (Medical Doctor), and I (director), together with our implementing partners in Europe and Africa, are bringing this device to these women as we navigate regulatory procedures and go-to-market strategies. A clinical trial involving 261 patients has already received care with Chloe® SED, and 31 medical practitioners have used the device and intend to continue doing so, even as excessive pain is cited as the most common reason for the difficulty they have in completing gynaecological procedures.
