Prof. Dr. Maroeska Rovers is the Scientific Director of the Technical Medical (TechMed) Centre at the University of Twente. Additionally, she serves as a Professor of Medical Technology and Innovation at Radboudumc, Director of Health Innovation Netherlands (HI-NL), and an active member of various organizations, including the scientific committee of Excite international, the IDEAL collaboration, and the Science and Innovation Panel of the EU IHI program.
Her ambition is to contribute to the development of effective, affordable, and valuable medical innovations. Her research is characterized as visionary, innovative, international, and highly productive. In her work, she integrates methods and innovations from diverse disciplines such as surgery, epidemiology, health technology assessment, biomedical sciences, and management sciences, with the aim of translating these insights into practical tools. Guided by methodology, she engages with a variety of technological fields, ranging from e-health and AI to robotics and implants. Her international (multi-center) projects have demonstrated her ability to unite the efforts of globally leading experts to advance innovations on a worldwide scale.
She is an elected member of the Academia Europe, Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and the Netherlands Academy of Engineering (NAE).
