Willem van den Brink | Senior Scientist Digital Biomarkers, Health & Work, TNO

Dr. Willem van den Brink is a scientist at TNO Health & Work, specializing in patient-centric digital biomarkers. His work focuses on leveraging wearable technologies and data science to transform healthcare and chronic disease management. With a background in pharmacology and biomarker research, he bridges multiple disciplines—including sensor technology, clinical data science, and social innovation—to drive innovation in digital health.After earning his PhD in neuropharmacology at the Leiden Academic Centre for Drug Research, Willem joined TNO, where he now leads the digital biomarker team. He plays a key role in public-private collaborations, developing digital biomarkers for chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and diabetes. His work focuses on integrating patient perspectives, real-world sensor data with advanced analytics to enhance clinical development and healthcare solutions. His research aims to enable earlier diagnosis, more effective interventions, and improved health outcomes.At Innovation for Health, Willem will share insights on the evolving role of digital biomarkers and medical wearables, exploring their potential to revolutionize healthcare and clinical research.
