Leaning In Without Burning Out – Recognising and Preventing Burnout
Ambition, high expectations and a strong sense of responsibility can keep us pushing even when we are exhausted. When workplace pressure becomes constant and recovery is insufficient, stress can affect our energy, focus and decision-making. Recognising the difference between healthy pressure that motivates us and chronic stress that drains us is an important first step in preventing burnout.
In this online session, Anna Steinzeig, Organisational Consultant & Executive Coach, will explore how chronic workplace stress develops, why it can be difficult to recognise our limits, and which early warning signs to pay attention to. We will examine how personal expectations and working habits interact with organisational factors such as excessive workloads, limited autonomy, and insufficient support.
The session will distinguish between what we can change ourselves and what requires action from managers or the organisation. We will look at practical ways to protect recovery, communicate boundaries and reconsider self-imposed expectations, while identifying when workloads, resources or management practices need to change.
Anna Steinzeig, PhD, is a neuroscientist, speaker and executive coach.
She is passionate about what drives human performance and wellbeing, which, as research shows, are not two different topics but two sides of the same coin. Anna looks into the science behind them and translates it into simple, accessible language, with practical tools people can use.
She draws on years of research into brain plasticity and the stress response, hands-on experience in fast-growing companies, and psychodynamic coaching training (INSEAD, Tavistock Institute). She works with leaders and founders, and speaks regularly at conferences and company events.
