Nettie Buitelaar has been in biotech her whole life. After obtaining her PhD at Wageningen University she worked in R&D institutes for about 10 years. Winning an MBA-tuition fee at TSM Business School in Twente motivated her to move to the edge of science and business in biotech, where she worked for a VC and was the first national manager of the BioPartner program to stimulate entrepreneurship in life sciences. After a consultancy experience at Xendo in Leiden, she became the first manager of Leiden Bio Science Park for about 10 years. After that she was the Chief Business Officer of BiosanaPharma, a company active in the development of biosimilar monoclonal antibodes with improved (read: much lower) Cost of Goods by means of an innovative, fully continuous manufacturing process. She is currently the Managing Director of Biotech Booster.
