Raheleh Tooyserkani is a postdoctoral researcher at Erasmus MC in Rotterdam, where she leads and contributes to projects focused on developing novel nanobody-based therapeutics and diagnostics for prostate and bladder cancer. Her work involves protein engineering, immunoassay development, and molecular biology—advancing cancer-targeted therapies with real translational potential.

Her career in biotechnology began with a strong passion for transforming scientific discoveries into a meaningful impact to ultimately improve patient’s life. She pursued a PhD in Medical Biotechnology, developing peptide antagonists as immune checkpoint inhibitors. Her Master’s research involved generating antibodies for diagnostic purposes, forming a solid foundation in targeted therapeutics that continues to shape her research. Beyond research, Raheleh is passionate about mentoring and student supervision—having guided BSc, MSc, and PhD researchers. She is a structured problem-solver and a collaborative team player who is ready to take the lead when needed. Her colleagues usually describe her as supportive, structured and fun to work with!

Prior to her current role, she worked at Bonda Innovation Center, a biotechnology accelerator, where she coordinated interdisciplinary team to evaluate the feasibility of biosimilar antibodies and establishing a vaccine platform.

Raheleh is now seeking to transition to industry, where she aims to apply her scientific and cross functional collaboration skills in innovation-driven teams dedicated to impactful health solutions.

Outside of the lab, she enjoys hiking, traveling and doing sports!
