Pieter is leading Discovery Sciences at Galapagos. His team is enabling small molecule and cell therapy discovery efforts across oncology, immunology and infectious diseases. The team is deploying both wet lab and computational capabilities covering cellular, biochemical and biophysical assay development, high throughput screening, compound profiling, computational biology and drug design. Before joining Galapagos, Pieter spend 24 years at J&J where he was leading efforts in the search for novel, safe and effective drugs by combining computational and wet lab approaches. Pieter obtained his Ph.D. in Applied Biological Sciences at the Center for Human Genetics, University Leuven, Belgium and graduated as a bioengineering at the same university.
Jan is leading Development Operations and PMO at Galapagos. His team is enabling small molecule and cell therapy development across oncology and immunology. In addition, he is driving portfolio and project management in development, partnering closely with the Discovery Research team to transfer new molecular entities into clinical development.
Before joining Galapagos, Jan has more than 20 years of pharma discovery, development and commercial supply chain experience across 2 international companies, Lilly and Janssen. Jan has a passion for shaping and leading diverse teams. His main focus throughout his career has been, and will continue to be to transform novel therapeutic ideas into value for patients.
Jan holds a Pharmacy degree from the Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium, and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, which he completed at the University of Leuven, Belgium.
