Innovation and Affordability Hand in Hand

8 October 2026 | 13:00 - 14:15

How can we ensure that breakthrough therapies not only reach patients faster, but also remain accessible and affordable? Within the FAST hubs (RARE-NL, InFECT-NL, NUCMED-NL, and ATMP-NL) stakeholders from across the value chain, from early research to clinical application and patient access, are brought together in a coordinated approach to therapy development. These hubs act as collaborative environments where scientific innovation, regulatory strategy, and health system considerations converge. By aligning expertise and priorities early, they enable more efficient translation of promising discoveries into real-world impact, while addressing key challenges related to access, scalability, and affordability. This subsession highlights practical examples from across the FAST ecosystem, offering insights into how coordinated national infrastructures and multi-stakeholder collaboration can bridge the gap between discovery and delivery, and ensure that innovative therapies are both developed and accessible to the patients who need them most.

Chairs: Benien Vingerhoed (FAST)

Speakers: Carla Hollak (AmsterdamUMC/RARE-NL), Sabien van der Schoot (InFECT-NL), Laurence Maes (J&J), Steffie Peters (Radboudumc)
