Whether it's your first time or your tenth time pitching in front of an audience full of investors and potential partners, you can always use some tips & tricks.
A good pitch is a well-prepared one. A few tips:
- Check the format (pdf, ppt) & aspect ratio used during your final presentation;
- Less is more, use 1-2 slides for every minute in your presentation;
- Avoid long text blocks and small fonts on your slides;
- A picture is worth a 1000 words, use your slides to support your talk;
- Practice your timing in front of a real audience!
Tell your Story
Make sure you have all your story elements included in your pitch. Focus on the purpose, mission and (short) history of your company. These questions can help to give you a lead in your pitch:
What is your why? What is the need for your product or service on the market? What is the technology you use for your product or service? Who is part of your team? What is your financial forecast? What are your funding needs?
Connect and Collect
The event does not stop after you have presented your pitch. Be seen by other attendees and make full use of the networking opportunities provided by the event, be it online or in-person. Reach out to investors and ask them if your pitch was clear or if they have extra questions. Bring your business cards to make the connection immediately. Prepare your own questions for investors yourself! A good first impression is very important for the next step.
