Leonie de Best has a background in Analytical Chemistry and has over 20 years of extensive management experience in biotech/life science industry, of which 10 years at senior executive level (COO/CBO). Leonie has a broad experience in the management of business processes in the field of (in-vitro) diagnostic assay and pharmaceutical product development from research stage until European and US market registrations. She is very motivated to bring valuable and high-quality health care innovations to patients.

SurvivX, founded in 2023, is a pre-clinical stage biotech company with an exclusive license to the IP (for world-wide use) on a novel biological for the (adjuvant) treatment of sepsis.

The protein was identified based on empirical evidence in humans; the protein is attributed to be responsible for the protective effect against (severe) sepsis caused by parasitic round worm infections. The compound shows immunomodulating effects by re-activating the immune system in the suppressive stage of sepsis (the later stage of sepsis, including multi-organ failure, with largest mortality). A clear survival benefit was seen in validated bacterial and viral sepsis mice models using the protein.
