Elise F. Hoek – van den Hil PhD, ERT (Wageningen Research) is a food safety scientist and European Registered toxicologist since 2015. She is working as a project leader of several (international) public private partnership projects and national funded projects dealing with food safety related to changing food systems, circularity and alternative proteins.

In her present work, she focusses on food safety aspects of insect rearing on residual streams. With her work, Elise wants to contribute to make it possible in future to re-use food waste for insect rearing to produce healthy sustainable proteins which can be used for food and feed.

There are changes needed in European legislation, to make these changes possible, the safety should be ensured, therefore the work of Elise and her colleagues is highly appreciated in the insect field.
