Eva received her Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence from the Radboud University Nijmegen in February 2005 (cum laude). In 2009 she obtained her Ph.D. at the Image Sciences Institute of the University Medical Center Utrecht on Segmentation of Anatomical Structures in Chest CT Scans, followed with a two-year postdoc position in quantitative image analysis at the Center for Computer Vision and Imaging Biomarkers at the University of California-Los Angeles. In Los Angeles, she worked also for the imaging CRO (Clinical Research Organization) MedQIA, where she developed automatic methods to assess fissural completeness from chest CT scans. From 2011 to 2014 she was leading the research on AI-enabled analysis of chest CT images with Diagnostic Image Analysis Group Nijmegen at Radboud University Medical Center.

In 2014 Eva decided to leave the academia to found Thirona, with a belief that science should be used for the benefit of all people. Driven by a desire to create positive impact, she dedicated her further career to enabling innovations in precision medicine for personalized treatment of pulmonary diseases,in collaboration with medical industry and academic research partners.
