She is the co-founder of RespiQ, a pioneering Dutch healthtech company developing breakthrough breath diagnostics technology which analyses disease biomarkers in the breath. Their mission is to enhance the well-being of patients living with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) by building a sensor device for real-time, non-invasive, at-home patient monitoring. It offers an early warning system for impending lung attacks. with the goal to improve patient outcomes, decrease pressure on the healthcare system, and cut healthcare costs.

Recently RespiQ has been awarded a prestigious 4M Pathfinder grant from the European Innovation Council (EIC) with renowned international consortium with academic institutions Kings College London and LUMC and research organisation SINTEF, as well as a Eurostars Grant (top 10 position) with o.a. academic institution AUMC their the consortium. This substantial funding propels s set to advance their groundbreaking technology to enhance the well-being of COPD patients. And RespiQ won’t stop at COPD, their innovative plasma technology is versatile and adaptable, making it a valuable solution for multiple use cases in healthcare.

Mira holds a master in Medical Biology and a master in Media Technology both from Leiden University. She is also an ex-gymnast who competed on an international level and still loves doing aerial and partner acrobatics. She is also a mother of 3 young kids, who aims to support other female founders and young mothers in their entrepreneurial journey.
