Over the past 30 years Susan has worked for various pharmaceutical companies varying from small to big pharma companies, in various clinical development and clinical operations functions across the different phases of clinical development.

Since 2018 Susan works at the Sanofi R&D site in Ghent, Belgium.

Since early 2025, she started a new role of Sr Director, Europe Region Lead Diversity and Inclusion in Clinical Trials, aiming at fair representation of diverse populations in clinical trials.

Susan is also chairing the Pharma.be (Belgian pharma trade association) Clinical Trials Taskforce.

Susan is married to Pieter Gaillard and has 3 children (age of 25, 23 and 22), 2 girls and a boy. Susan lives in Leiden, and part-time in Ghent. In free time, Susan likes to row and teaches rowing. If the weather permits, with the family, they like to sail with their traditional Dutch wooden sailing boat (“Staverse Jol”) on Dutch waters.
