Gert Storm is Visiting Research Professor Nanomedicine at the Department of Surgery of the National University Hospital in Singapore, and emeritus professor Pharmaceutics/Targeted Nanomedicine at the Department of Pharmaceutics of the Utrecht University and Department of Biomaterials Science & Technology (BST) of the University of Twente.
He obtained his Ph.D. degree in 1987 at the Utrecht University, Department of Pharmaceutics. In 1988-1989, he was a visiting scientist at Liposome Technology Inc. in Menlo Park, USA, and visiting assistant professor at the School of Pharmacy, UCSF, San Francisco.
Clinical translation of academic results is a vital element of his ambition, as exemplified by the clinical testing of liposomal formulations of clodronate and corticosteroids in rheumatoid arthritis patients. He is on the Board of the CLINAM (European Foundation for Clinical Nanomedicine) organization in Basel, Vice-President of the PRC (Phospholipid Research Center) in Heidelberg, co-founder of the company Eden Ophthalmic in Singapore, co-founder of Ayuvant B.V. in Utrecht and Scientific Advisor at Liposoma B.V. in Amsterdam.
From 2014 on included in the lists of Highly Cited Researchers by Clarivate Analytics. H-index 125 (Google Scholar, December 2023), > 650 publications.
