Klaas Poelstra is Professor of Drug Targeting and chair of the Department of Nanomedicine and Drug Targeting at the Groningen Research Institute of Pharmacy (GRIP), University of Groningen. His research focuses on new drug targeting strategies for the treatment of fibrotic diseases and his innovations led to several start-up companies and clinical trials. He received a Vidi grant (2000) and a Vici grant (2006) from NWO, and is recipient of the Dutch Galenus Research Award. Currently he is author of over 130 publications and co-inventor of 8 patent-families. Since 2013 he has fulfilled several management positions, such as vice-dean at the Faculty of Science & Engineering and currently is Director of Education at GRIP. Since 2023 he is also chair of FIGON.
