Laura Windt researched several microphysiological systems (MPS) throughout her career, as she started her research on gut organoids at Wageningen University and Utrecht, learned about Organ-on-Chip in Denmark during an exchange at DTU, and did her internship at Mimetas where she worked with lung- and liver-on-chip models. During her PhD she worked on a Heart-on-chip model at the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), in the lab of Prof. Christine Mummery and as part of the Netherlands Organ on Chip Initiative (NOCI). She now has a role as project lead Organ-on-Chip at Health~Holland, where she supports the implementation of Organ-on-Chip by facilitating strategic (international) collaborations. She is also part of the Non-Clinical and New Approach Methodologies European Specialised Expert Community of European Medicine Agency (EMA), focussing on setting up qualification guidelines for Organ-on-Chip.
