Dr. Misha Vrolijk is an Assistant Professor with a background in Food Toxicology. For his research, he is interested in various issues related to food safety from a toxicological perspective. He is particularly interested in the safety of dietary supplements, on which he conducted his PhD research at the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology of Maastricht University. After his PhD, he has expanded research into food safety in general, where he is interested in the chemical and biological safety of food along the whole food chain. As such. he is currently involved in various projects, all dealing with different aspects of food safety. These projects include research focusing on the relationship between food preparation and processing and the chemical and biological safety; research on the chemical safety of food packaging materials; research on the safety of novel protein sources, and research on the safety of dietary supplements.
