Olivier Béquignon
Assistant Professor - Computational Drug Discovery, Medicinal Chemistry, LACDR
Olivier J. M. Béquignon is a recently appointed Assistant Professor in AI and structure-based drug discovery at the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at the Leiden Academic Centre for Drug Research, Leiden University. He earned his PhD in Computational Drug Discovery and Safety, complementing a Master of Science in In Silico Drug Design from the University Paris Cité and a degree in Biotechnology Engineering from Sup'Biotech, Paris. Following a two-year postdoctoral position at the Amsterdam University Medical Center, where he focused on the blood-brain barrier permeability of kinase inhibitors for glioblastoma, Olivier's current research leverages artificial intelligence, cheminformatics, and molecular modelling to design novel drug candidates for cancer, with a particular emphasis on GPCRs and kinases. His contributions include "Papyrus - A large-scale curated dataset aimed at bioactivity predictions," a publication associated with a dataset downloaded over 15,000 times, and the development of multiple open-source computational tools for drug design.
