The Exposome and Nutritional Supplements: A Dangerous Combination for Your Health

This session is about the risk of environmental factors (the exposome) on the development of chronic disease and the risk of using nutritional supplements to treat them. Jeroen Lakerveld from the Department of Epidemiology and Data Science at the Amsterdam UMC will discuss environmental determinants and their risk to develop chronic diseases such as obesity and Type II diabetes in adults and Misha Vrolijk from the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Maastricht University will discuss the risks of using nutritional supplements to treat these diseases. In addition, a research abstract will be selected to be presented during this session.
