The discovery and development of new treatments is an increasingly complex, resource-intensive, and high-risk endeavour. To accelerate innovation and improve success rates, collaboration across sectors—academia, industry, government, non-profits, and patient advocacy groups—has become essential. This session, titled “Collaborative Drug Discovery and Development: The Power of Partnerships,” will explore the critical role of collaboration in the different stages of drug research, development, and clinical implementation. By leveraging complementary expertise, data sharing, infrastructure, and risk-sharing mechanisms, partnerships can help overcome key challenges such as target validation, translational gaps, and early clinical development hurdles. Through case studies and expert insights, this session will highlight successful models of collaborative R&D, discuss lessons learned, and identify best practices that can be applied to foster innovation, reduce duplication of efforts, and ultimately bring effective therapies to patients faster.
